Technical

Eurobitume’s Technical Committee brings together experts drawn from member organisations across Europe. Further specialist task forces and working groups are also formed to address specific, current, technical issues and Eurobitume’s technical agenda is led by its Technical Director, Mike Southern.

The work of Eurobitume’s Technical Committee includes establishing the European bitumen industry position on matters such as performance-based standards, specifications, binder selection systems and characterisation tools.

Standardisation

Europe is developing a new and common system of specifications to describe paving bitumens, including modified bitumens and special binders. More

CE Marking

Effectively, this is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all of the mandated provisions of relevant European standards. CE marking provides customers with reassurance of product quality compliance and gives producers easier access into all European Union and European Economic Area (EEA) markets, to sell their products without adaptation or re-checking. More

Data Collection Report

The Technical Committee has recently published Eurobitume’s Data Collection Report, concluding a major initiative to collect data on the most commonly used test methods for the purpose of development of new performance related specifications for the more complex, high performance, polymer modified bitumens. • Bitumen in service (in the road, on the roof, ... ) is an inert material and represents no hazard to human health. During its storage, transportation and application it is heated to high temperatures so, for those working with bitumen, hazards do exist, although these can be easily managed.

“Hazard” and “Risk” have very different meanings. See how they differ here.

  • Two new leaflets have been produced and made their debut at E&E 2012.

'Move forward with confidence' and 'Working with confidence' provide an introduction to Eurobitume and highlight the health, safety and environmental information available on the Eurobitume website.
