Successful Asphalt & Bitumen Day

Close to 200 people from various parts of the industry and authorities heard experts address important topical issues at the recent 'Roads to the future'-themed Asphalt & Bitumen Day 2018 - held at the Business Centre BluePoint in Brussels on 21 March and jointly organised by Eurobitume and the Belgian Association of Asphalt Producers (BVA/ABPE).

At this very well-received event, leading industry figures such as Stefan Vansteenkiste (pictured) from OCW (Belgian Road Research Centre), Kristof Rombaut from MOW (Flemish Agency for Roads and Traffic) and Wim Van den Bergh from the University of Antwerp’s Energy and Materials in Infrastructure and Buildings Research Group, delivered interesting presentations including:

• Intelligent mobility for today and for tomorrow
• Innovation in the construction of asphalt roads through the use of IT
• How to apply recycled asphalt in high quality roads in future

There were also presentations about bitumen supply and demand, coloured asphalt and pavement management systems.

As well as listening to the presentations, delegates networked with fellow industry stakeholders and visited the stands of 13 exhibitors from associated product and service organisations.
