Loading Compatibility Matrix

As part of the activity of TF Safe Handling of Bitumen a ‘Loading Compatibility Matrix’ has been produced which provides simple advice on cargoes that may be safely loaded into trucks that have previously carried various products. The matrix provides clear and simple advice for acceptable follow-on loads, also specifying when cleaning is required and/or when the manufacturer must be consulted for further advice.

Cross contamination of bituminous binders may cause problems with product quality and may, in some circumstances, cause the risk of serious safety issues, e.g. if water comes into contact with hot products.

The loading compatibility matrix is intended to be used by those involved with transport of hot bituminous binders, including material manufacturers and hauliers.
