Two hundred and twenty people ‘pitched’ up for the Bitumen Day seminar and exhibition, held in the rousing surroundings of the Anderlecht Stadium, Brussels.
The first part of the morning session focused on a series of issues which are crucial for Eurobitume, as well as for the attendees: health and safety, data collection for the next generation of standards and on a more general note, energy evolution.
This was followed by presentations on the latest techniques in road design, illustrated by examples of recent projects.
In the afternoon the frameworks of the various new tender documents were examined, along with the new test methods that they now include.
During the course of the day, the exhibition area proved a lively focal point to meet peers and get to know the latest products. Participants took the opportunity to visit the stands of the twenty one companies exhibiting. They also found it helpful that throughout the day the event catered for both Dutch and French speakers.
The next opportunity for the Benelux bitumen and asphalt professionals to get together will be in Amersfoort, 7 December 2010.
