Widely recognised as the voice of the bitumen industry in Europe, Eurobitume educated and promoted the efficient, economic, effective, safe and sustainable use of refined bitumen in 2021 by sharing our and our members’ bitumen expertise, experience and advice with industry stakeholders and opinion formers.

To promote the theme of the E&E Congress and communicate the key messages, we produced two website articles on the Eurobitume website, ‘Asphalt 4.0 and future mobility’ and ‘Bitumen 4.0 and future mobility’.

In Switzerland, Eurobitume Switzerland Director Hans-Peter Beyeler provided the voice of bitumen in an expert panel session at Forum Strasse, the largest road construction conference in the country.

Bitumen sustainability presentations delivered in Australia, Italy and Norway

Throughout the year, Eurobitume representatives including Mike Southern (Senior Technical Advisor for Eurobitume), Maria Rita Valentinetti (Eni) and Giampaolo Fenati (Alma Petroli) delivered bitumen sustainability and life cycle assessment-related presentations at various physical, online and hybrid events including AfPA 2021 in Australia, the NABin-Seminar in Norway and Asphaltica 2021 in Italy.

In France, we promoted the use of bitumen as a strategic material for French road infrastructures, at a Mobility Infrastructures congress organised by Eurobitume industry partner IDRRIM, the French Institute of Roads, Streets and Infrastructure for Mobility.

Eurobitume UK is a 50% partner in the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA), which once again organised a Sharing Best Practice educational and networking event for local authority highway engineers and road industry professionals from across the UK.
