To be the first reference for bitumen in Europe.

Mission

Our continuing mission is to:

  • educate and promote the efficient, economic, effective, safe and sustainable use of refined bitumen in road, industrial and building applications
  • provide information and guidance on technical, health, safety and environmental matters, based upon proven data
  • create a positive image and environment for a sustainable bitumen demand, based on communicating the product benfits to key audiences.

As part of this mission, we work with government and regulatory bodies to develop and maintain testing procedures and safety standards, in order to ensure the highest possible quality standards in all bitumen-related operational activities.

The value organisations get from being part of Eurobitume was further demonstrated in 2022, when five new organisations became members and further strengthened the voice of the bitumen industry in Europe.

Member Survey

Conducted during the summer of 2022, our annual Member Survey again showed a high level of satisfaction, although there was a small increase in the proportion of partly satisfied.

HSE and Technical material together with Involvement in committees, Regulatory Influence and E&E activities remained in the top five (NB The new activity introduced this year, ‘member webinars’, was rated next as sixth highest.

The top three areas to develop 2023-2026 were:

  1. Communication to politicians and policy makers
  2. Educational material for external audiences
  3. Focus on General Public – replaced Providing internal training for members.

We continued to see significant feedback on ‘Sustainability’ as an area of future focus for Eurobitume.

58% of respondents said their membership of Eurobitume provides them and their organisation with high added value when compared to their membership of other industry associations.
