Some 100 high level figures from the bitumen industry recently attended Eurobitume France’s annual New Year’s cocktail reception at the Fédération Nationale des Travaux Publics (FNTP) in Paris.

At the event, a number of awards were handed out to individuals and organisations that helped Eurobitume France to promote the efficient, safe use of bitumen in road, industrial and building projects throughout 2017.

Award recipients

  • HSE: Bituminous plants C3L and FERA 69, for introducing safety showers at their plants, thereby improving the safety of their workers.
  • Communications: Routes de France’s Christine Leroy for translating the entire Asphalt Advantages campaign from English into French.
  • Technical: EUROVIA’s Bernard Eckmann for his personal, scientific and technical know-how on European standardisation issues.
  • Special awards: Observatoire National de la Route presented special awards to both IDDRIM and Routes de France.

Also at the gathering, Eurobitume President Siobhan McKelvey, welcomed participants to the reception and highlighted the importance of these national events for enhancing relationships with local stakeholders and strengthening the Eurobitume brand.

Eurobitume France’s Director Jean-Michel Michou then spoke about last year’s successes before setting out his plans for 2018.

“2017 has been a great year. We actively promoted Eurobitume’s safety shower guide with the aim of having all delivery sites fully equipped. We also stepped up our collaboration with France’s Health and Safety agencies and made a lot of progress on our standardisation work.”

Michou added that plans for 2018 include updating Eurobitume’s guide on the safe delivery of bitumen, launching a new trade magazine called BITUME INFO, and actively promoting June’s E&E Event, taking place in Berlin.
