Swiss Bitumen Day 2016

On 7th April 2016, the 3rd Swiss Bitumen Day was held at the Kursaal in Bern and attended by approximately 90 people from the industry and authorities.

This Eurobitume Switzerland-organised conference was a great success and featured a number of very interesting presentations, including:

  • Aimé Xhonneux, Director General of Eurobitume, spoke about the new structure of the Association
  • Gisela Seiler, Public & Government Affairs, ExxonMobil Hamburg, presented: “Energy Outlook - World Energy Outlook: A view until 2040"
  • Dr. Andreas Opel, from the Institute Dr. Ing. Grauer in Germany, talked about "Test- and special tracks for the automotive industry"
  • Michel Pittet, Member VSS Expert Commission NFK 3.3, spoke about the "Determination of the presence and effectiveness of adhesives"
  • Guido Biaggio, Vice Director of the FEDRO (Federal Roads Office), informed delegates about the requirements on streets, as well as the future financing model - from the point of view of the Federal Roads Office
  • Hans-Peter Beyeler, specialist engineer at FEDRO, spoke about the "Experience with EME road pavements, low temperature asphalts and recycling issues”.
  • Wim Teugels of Nynas AB Stockholm clearly illustrated the complexity of refining bitumen in his presentation, entitled: "Influencing the properties of bitumen from the point of view of the refinery – Myth & Facts".
