Leading Italian heavy oil refiner Alma Petroli S.p.A., which specialises in the production of high-end bitumen, is the latest organisation to join Eurobitume – the first reference for bitumen in Europe.

Sergio Bovo (left), CEO of Alma Petroli, explained: “Our core business is the production of various grades of bitumen. We earnestly believe that joining Eurobitume is an important step in helping us achieve our goal of Alma Petroli becoming one of the leading bitumen producers in South Europe.

“Our plan envisages investments in the research and development of new grades, and we highly value the expertise and competences in Eurobitume and its members. We are also keen to expand our existing network in the sector and will be more than happy to provide our contribution to other members too.”

As well as developing and communicating industry positions on important technical, HSE and regulatory issues, Eurobitume promotes the efficient, safe use of bitumen in road, industrial and building projects and also creates a positive environment for sustained bitumen demand.

Eurobitume Director General Aimé Xhonneux added: “I am delighted Alma Petroli chose to join the expanding Eurobitume family, which provides an increasingly strong voice for the bitumen industry in Europe. As a Core Member, they not only benefit from a wealth of expert advice, technical information, industry data and safety guidance, but are also able to play an active role in the development of the bitumen industry in Europe.”
