8th Eurobitume-Academia webinar - with Université Gustave Eiffel

Europe |

Linear Viscoelastic Behaviour of Bituminous Binders was the focus of the latest Eurobitume academia webinar, which was held on 18th January in partnership with Université Gustave Eiffel, Campus of Nantes.

Emmanuel Chailleux, a Senior Researcher at Université Gustave Eiffel, lead the webinar, which was attended by more than 40 people from member organisations, Eurobitume and invited guests.

The webinar covered an interesting mix of key points, including:

  • Why bitumen linear viscoelastic (LVE) behaviour is important
  • Experimental examples from research carried out by Université Gustave Eiffel
  • How to build mastercurves using LVE theory
    • Use of Black diagrams and Cole-Cole plots to fully characterise binder behaviour across a full range of temperatures & frequencies
  • Modelling of rheological behaviours
  • The link between molecular structure and LVE measurements
  • Practical examples of the use of rheology to identify additives and ageing effects

After the presentation, there was a lively discussion and Q&A session.

The details of Eurobitume-academia webinars that will take place in the second and fourth quarters of this year are not yet confirmed.

Eurobitume members can access recordings of all previous academia webinars from the Training / Academia Webinars page of the Eurobitume Intranet site.
