PPE advice for the upper body

Prompted by the results of the quarterly exchange by members on high level industry safety issues leading to incidents and near misses, Eurobitume’s Safe Handling of Bitumen Sub-Committee (SHSC) has re-iterated its safety advice about the importance of wearing suitable personal protective equipment (PPE), particularly head, face, eyes and neck protection, when handling bitumen.

The SHSC’s safety advice is especially important when the hose is disconnected after delivery has been completed - as the risk of splashing then is high. At this time, it is very important that the full-face visor is pulled down over the face and the neck protection is in the right place (as shown in the photograph above).
