Infrastructure services company FM Conway, bituminous road binders and emulsions organisation Irish Tar & Bitumen Suppliers and energies and bitumen distributor Rubis Energie have all joined Eurobitume, the voice of the bitumen industry in Europe.

Eurobitume Director General Siobhan McKelvey commented: “I am delighted to welcome FM Conway and Irish Tar & Bitumen Suppliers as Core Members of Eurobitume and Rubis Energie as an Associate Member, and look forward to the additional expertise, insights and experiences they will bring to our association.

“These three latest additions further demonstrate the value organisations get from being part of Eurobitume, as we continue our work to educate and promote the efficient, economic, effective, safe and sustainable use of refined bitumen in road, industrial and building applications in Europe.”

The reasons for choosing to become members of Eurobitume varied for each company:

FM Conway’s Group Development Director. Tim Metcalf, said: “FM Conway are relative newcomers to the world of bitumen. We have steadily built our business based on self-delivery and quality, and feel that membership of Eurobitume will enhance our Bitumen business in terms of safety and bring benefit technically. This was highlighted at the recent E&E Event in Vienna, which was both well attended and a great networking and learning event.”

Tony Broderick, Managing Director of Irish Tar and Bitumen Suppliers, stated: “The transport and road construction industries are heading into an exciting and transformative period of sustainability-driven change. Sustainability is at the heart of everything Irish Tar & Bitumen Suppliers does and we have joined Eurobitume so we can contribute to ongoing industry debates regarding the future development of standards and regulations, particularly involving environmental and sustainability.”

Rubis Energie Technical & HSE Director Sébastien Guellaut explained: “Rubis Energie is a distributor of hydrocarbons and LPG products in several countries, especially in the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. Already a distributor of bitumen in Africa, with the aim of developing activities in Europe, Rubis Energie’s affiliates endeavour to learn and understand the European standards for bitumen and adapt any future bitumen activities to be aligned with required standards. In this context, joining Eurobitume is a natural and logical upgrade for the Group.”
