On 17th January, 60 people from the HSE and Technical Committees of Eurobitume and EAPA met virtually for their annual meeting to discuss common HSE, technical and sustainability issues and exchange information about the activities each association is involved with in these areas.

The meeting participants also explored potential topics for collaboration and sought to agree a common way forward on shared subjects of interest.

Jointly managed by Dr. Breixo Gomez from EAPA and Dr. Ian Lancaster and Dr. Anja Sörensen from Eurobitume, the meeting covered a broad range of important HSE, technical and sustainability topics: from Future Specifications, Standardisation and Sustainability; through to an update about the CARE (Coalition for Asphalt Research into Emissions) group, Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Emissions and Workplace exposure.

The meeting also included a valuable review of last year’s E&E Event and an update on preparations for next year’s E&E Congress in Budapest, 19-21 June 2024, before a section on new and revised publications planned by Eurobitume and EAPA.

Following this latest, annual joint meeting of the associations Technical and HSE Committees, both Eurobitume and EAPA have a solid base for their work moving forward and may choose to schedule interim meetings on specific subjects if deemed necessary.
