Eurobitume took part in the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB’s) latest annual meeting in Washington, D.C., which was attended by more than 13.000 transportation administrators, practitioners, policy makers and researchers from around the world.

Eurobitume HSE Lead Dr Anja Sörensen, a member of the TRB’s Standing Committee on Binders for Flexible Pavement (AKM20), represented the association at the 103rd staging of this event.

Sustainability workshop on flexible pavements and binders
On the final day of the meeting, Anja co-chaired (with Amir Golalipour from the Federal Highways Association, FHWA, in the United States) a successful “Sustainability Aspects of Flexible Pavement Binders from an International Perspective“ workshop, which attracted more than 130 participants.

On behalf of Eurobitume, Anja gave a presentation about what is happening in Europe regarding the sustainability aspects of flexible pavement binders. This sat alongside similar presentations covering North America, South and Latin America, and Asia, after which individual aspects were discussed in five break-out sessions.

Take-aways from the workshop will be fed back into Eurobitume.
