Eurobitume delivers Binders training

At the recent Asphalt Materials and Pavements training course held at Newcastle University, nearly 50 UK-based highway engineers and others in associated disciplines learned about asphalt binders in a lecture delivered by Eurobitume Senior Technical Advisor Mike Southern.

Mike’s lecture covered the history, production, properties, specifications and modification of binders, and also addressed practical aspects such as binder storage and safety, This module on bitumen has always been a fundamental part of the training programme, and for many engineers it has given them an important introduction to bitumen.

This joint MPA / Newcastle University course is in its 47th year and deals with pavement materials as they exist within the Harmonised European Specifications framework, covers traditional and innovative asphalt materials and also includes health & safety, sustainability and testing.
