‘Handling bitumen safely’: New website feature article published

Europe |

As part of our mission, ‘to promote the efficient, safe use of bitumen in road, industrial and building projects‘, Eurobitume develops bitumen safety guidance documentation for members and continually reviews it to make sure the information is up to date.

The latest feature article published on our website highlights the wealth of documentation available from the Eurobitume website about handling bitumen safely.

Bitumen is in a hot, liquid state during manufacture, transportation, storage, handling, when mixing asphalt and when producing roofing membranes. It is important, therefore, that everyone involved in handling bitumen and bituminous materials follows the relevant best practice guidelines and takes appropriate precautions.

As well as highlighting important areas of advice addressed within our Guide to the Safe Delivery of Bitumen, which was developed by industry experts from Eurobitume and our member companies to help reduce risk and avoid accidents, the article also draws upon information from Eurobitume Safe Handling Cards, a Safety Shower Guidance document and Bitumen Burns Cards, which are all available in multiple languages.
