Helping shape the future of road transport in Europe

Eurobitume has the opportunity of providing an important voice for the bitumen industry in Europe within the European Commission’s (EC)’s CCAM (Cooperative, Connected, Automated and autonomous Mobility) Single Platform, which will advise and support the EC regarding the open road testing of potential road infrastructure adaptations for connected and automated vehicles.

Eurobitume has the opportunity of providing an important voice for the bitumen industry in Europe within the European Commission’s (EC)’s CCAM (Cooperative, Connected, Automated and autonomous Mobility) Single Platform, which will advise and support the EC regarding the open road testing of potential road infrastructure adaptations for connected and automated vehicles.

As a member of the Executive Committee of the European Union Road Federation (ERF), which is one of only 20 expert organisations appointed by the EC to the CCAM Platform, our Director General Siobhan McKelvey is helping shape the future of road transport in Europe.

What is CCAM?
The CCAM Single Platform is a joint directive of the EC’s:

  • Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE)
  • Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT)
  • Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SME's (DG GROW)
  • Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD)

What will CCAM do?
As well as advising and supporting the EC regarding open road testing, it will make the link to pre-deployment activities and address any issues related to data access and exchange, physical and digital road transport infrastructure, communication technology, cybersecurity and road safety.
