Two new members, committee chairs and senior officers elected at Eurobitume General Meeting

Europe |

At Eurobitume’s recent Spring Meeting in Madrid, the association welcomed two new Associate members: Dynasol, a leading global producer of synthetic rubber and chemicals, and LG Chem Europe, a diverse chemicals business with a division producing petrochemicals-based products.

New HSE Committee and PRC Committee Chairs

Each committee chair has a two-year tenure, after which a formal rotation process takes place with members invited to nominate a representative to steer that committee through the next 24-month cycle.

At the end of this year’s Spring meeting, Eni’s Giulia Pizzella took over as HSE Committee Chair from interim HSE Committee Chair Karin Hennung - who is a former chair of the HSE Committee and had kindly stepped in as Chair when Mathieu Vaissiere left mid-term last year. Thank you very much Karin!

Similarly, Sergio Bovo (Alma Petroli) became the PRC Committee Chair at the end of this meeting, taking over from Interim Chair and Eurobitume Director General Siobhan McKelvey.

Eurobitume President, Vice-President and Treasurer

New senior officers were also elected at this meeting:

  • Dave Foster (Shell) is the new President of Eurobitume
  • Pavel Kriz (ExxonMobil) is the new Vice President
  • Vicente Perez (Cepsa) remains as Treasurer.

In these roles, Dave, Pavel and Vicente will help drive Eurobitume forward in its Vision ‘to be the first reference for bitumen in Europe’. They will also help progress Eurobitume’s Mission, to educate and promote the efficient, economic, effective, safe and sustainable use of refined bitumen; to provide information and guidance on technical, health, safety and environmental matters; and to create a positive image and environment for a sustained bitumen demand - based on communicating the product benefits to key audiences.

Dave Foster, the new Eurobitume President, is Country Business Manager for Shell’s Bitumen business in the UK and Ireland. A former Eurobitume Vice-President and Treasurer, Dave chaired Eurobitume’s local representation in the UK for a number of years and sits on the committee of the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) - an alliance between Eurobitume UK and the Mineral Products Association (MPA)

Eurobitume’s new Vice President is Pavel Kriz, who is the Principal Asphalt Product Engineer for ExxonMobil in the Czech Republic.

Vicente Perez from Cepsa continues as Eurobitume’s Treasurer. He is Technical Manager for Cepsa’s bitumen business, where he oversees quality control, technical assistance and research and development. He is a member of a number of bitumen industry associations in Spain, including PIARC’s Spanish mirror association (ATC). Vicente is a Spanish delegate at CEN and since 2012 has been a member of Eurobitume’s Technical Committee, which he chaired between 2020 and 2022.

Board of directors

At the same time as electing new Senior Officers, Eurobitume members also elected a 10-strong Board of Directors. Apart from the annual rotation of the Associate member company and its representative, with DOW’s Petko Krastev taking the place of Mario Sandor from BASF, the board composition remained as it was for the previous year:

From Core Member companies:

  • Johanna Andreasson (Nynas)
  • Frank Biel (TotalEnergies)
  • Sergio Bovo (Alma Petroli)
  • Roberto Cipolletta (ENI)
  • Dave Foster (Shell) (President)
  • Pavel Kriz (ExxonMobil) (Vice President)
  • Francisco Lucas (Repsol) (past President)
  • Vicente Perez (Cepsa) (Treasurer)
  • Markus Spiegl (OMV)

From Associate Member companies:

  • Petko Krastev (DOW).

Eurobitume would like to welcome DOW’s Petko Krastev to the Board of Directors for the coming year and thank BASF’s Mario Sandor for the support and valuable contributions he made over the past 12 months.
