Eurobitume is the voice of the European bitumen industry. Our members represent over 80% of European bitumen production and all have refinery assets within Europe.
The mission of Eurobitume is to promote the efficient, effective and safe use of bituminous binders in road, industrial and building applications. Our members are committed to high quality, European product standards, and best practice in the safe transport and handling of bitumen.
Bitumen is the primary material used in the construction of bituminous paving or asphalt roads. Across the European road network, spanning over 5.5 million kilometres, bituminous paving is the principle road surface applied. It has excellent water-proofing properties and is also widely used for roofing, along with a wide range of other household and industrial applications, from emulsion paints to sound-proofing.
